TORA NOYES (nee TALGOY) June 17, 1915 - October 25, 2010 Peacefully on Monday, October 25, 2010, at the Golden Door Geriatric Centre Tora Noyes passed away at the age of 95 years with her brother by her side. Tora was predeceased by her beloved husband Clarence. She will be lovingly remembered by son Robert (Hilary), grandsons David and Daniel. Tora was born in Norway, coming to Canada with her mother and brother to join her father already here as an editor for Norrona, a Norwegian weekly paper, in Winnipeg. After graduating from Daniel McIntyre Collegiate she went to work for the federal government. Always a proud Norwegian, she served as secretary for the League of Norsemen during the war years. Marrying a newspaper man, she followed him across Canada, eventually winding up in Vancouver, working at Norrmana, a Norwegian care home. Upon retirement she established Tora's Corner where she helped patients create handiworks which they donated or sold for charity. Cremation has taken place and a private remembrance service was held on Saturday, October 30. A special thank you to the nurses and nursing attendants a the Golden Door for their excellent care. If friends wish, donations may be made in Tora's memory to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Association.
